On 23 June 2011, European People’s Party (EPP) will soon celebrate its 35th birthday. To commemorate this special anniversary, a logo competition on EPP's Facebook site was launched to mark this occasion. The winner of the competition is Emese Boga, 23, from Romania. Emese has studied accounting and informatics, is currently finishing a master degree in management and works for an insurance company. In her free time, she works for an environmental association (Green Sun Association) for which she has undertaken several design projects. Emese Boga discovered the competition logo through YEPP (Youth of the EPP): “My design conveys the idea of unity of the EPP family for 35 years. The blue ribbon symbolizes a bridge between nations and the road from the past to nowadays”, she explains. It also stresses “what people can achieve when they join together and shows they have enough strength to win”. Boga was able to gather more than 900 votes by mobilizing support through conventional and social media. “The 35th birthday of the EPP gives us an opportunity to celebrate the history and values of our great European political family. The logo competition is also way to engage the European youth in a creative and festive manner. We are very pleased that the logo designed by Emese Boga will spearhead our 35th anniversary celebrations,” stated EPP Secretary General López-Istúriz .
